The Marketing Skills Trust is a charitable organisation that distributes funds in support of projects and activities contributing to the future growth and governance of the data driven marketing sector. Our mission is "to deliver a sustainable funding model to provide access to training and skills development for the marketers of the future, ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and skilled talent pool for the industry."

We accept applications from organisations, educational establishments, and groups of individuals to help fund projects.

This notice sets out how we collect and use your personal information and tells you about the cookies we use on our website.

How we collect your personal information

We may collect personal information about you if you:

  • us contact details when you ask us for information about the Trust;

  • give us contact details when you apply for a grant from the Trust;

  • give us contact details when you get in touch about supporting our fundraising activities;

  • sign up to receive any regular or ad-hoc emails we may send or to receive our annual report;

  • register to attend an event we are hosting;

  • complete a survey we send you.

The details we collect may include for example your

  • Full name,

  • Email address,

  • Job title,

  • Employer, college or school,

  • Phone number.

How we use your personal information

The ‘purposes’ for which we collect and use information about you include:

  • To administer the Trust,

  • To respond to your request for information from us,

  • To progress your submission for a grant from the Trust,

  • To maintain records of prospective, current and past grant recipients,

  • To maintain records of prospective, current and past sponsors,

  • To support our fundraising,

  • To ensure we do not send unwanted information to those who have informed us they do not wish to be contacted,

  • To facilitate your attendance at one of our events,

  • To share your event registration details with third-party sponsors hosting events on our behalf (purely for event security and administration purposes),

  • To improve our website.

Our lawful basis for processing your personal information

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • We have a contractual obligation.

  • We have a legal obligation.

  • We have a legitimate interest.

Your rights regarding your personal information

You have a number of rights under UK data protection law. These are listed below, along with our contact details should you wish to make a request to exercise one of these rights.

Informed: You have the right to be informed about how we handle your personal data.  This privacy notice is one of the ways we do this.

Access: You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and the purposes for which we are using it. ‘Personal data’ is any information which can directly, or indirectly, identify you.

Rectification: You have the right to ask us to change any details which are incorrect or need updating.

Erasure: You have the right to ask us to delete your personal details. We will assess any deletion request on a case-by-case basis. If you have authored any content on the DPN and would like this to be deleted, please let us know.

Object: You have the absolute right to object to receiving direct marketing from us.  You also have the right to raise an objection about how we are handling your personal information.

Restriction: You have the right to ask us to restrict or suppress your personal information. This may mean we would store it but not use it.

Portability: You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services.  Given our purpose and the nature of the personal data we hold, we don’t believe this right is likely to apply.

We don’t carry out any activities involving automated decisions being made about you.

To fulfil your request, we may need to ask you for proof of identity. We’ll handle any requests as soon as possible, at least within one calendar month.

If you’re concerned about the way in which we have collected and used your personal information, please contact us and we’ll do our best to resolve this with you. If you remain unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you have the right to raise a complaint to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office.

How we keep your personal information secure

We take appropriate steps to make sure personal information is stored in a secure environment to prevent any unauthorised access.

Who we share personal information with

We may disclose your personal data if required to do so by law.

From time to time, we may use external service providers to support the running of the Trust, for example, to develop our website. These service providers may handle your personal data on our behalf. We will always put appropriate contractual arrangements in place covering these relationships to ensure your personal data is protected.

We will not share your personal information with any other businesses for them to use for their marketing purposes.

How long we keep your personal information for

We keep your personal details only for as long as is necessary for the reasons we are using them for.

Testimonials

We may display testimonials you provide us on our website and in promotional materials we use to raise awareness of the Trust. By submitting a testimonial to us you give us consent to use your testimonial in this way. If you would like us to remove your testimonial from our website at any time, please contact us at admin@marketingskillstrust.org.uk.
