The Marketing Skills Trust is a charitable organisation and is financially independent. It has been set up with gifts and legacies as well as actively fundraising in the marketing community to ensure that we can continue to support suitable projects.

The Marketing Skills Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees which is responsible for assessing applications for funds and ensuring that grants are effectively distributed.

  • Colin Gillespie

    Colin Gillespie

    Trustee

Colin is Co-Founder and CSO of All Response media.

All Response Media was established in 1995 with a unique data driven analytics proposition which has since grown to become the UK’s largest dedicated customer acquisition media agency employing over 150 people across three countries and four offices and achieving +£200M in turnover 2023.

Working within a team of brilliant practitioners he has been responsible for driving ARM’s innovation in the customer acquisition arena since inception. All things integrated and the dreaded attribution metric across media channels is a core competency all agency suppliers should have, which All Response Media does. To not understand that dynamic on an empirical level is to admit that you're wasting media investment with no means of remedying. If you can't measure you can't manage.

Colin believes that to work with an entrepreneur, you must be one, this mantra combined with a passion for creative thinking and accountability means that, as part of the ARM team, he ensures the objectives of both the agency and clients are always 100% aligned.

Seeing past ARM alumni go on to do brilliant things with their career and watching current staff learn and grow, brings him a sense of pride and purpose. External mentoring, NED positions and angel investing adds to his mission.

Our history.

Professor Derek Holder founded the IDM - Institute for Direct and Data Marketing - that directly educated and inspired 50,000 marketers and influenced many more.

On his death , Derek left a generous bequest to establish a Legacy Fund as a Trust to fund a lasting contribution to the marketing profession supporting the development of educational programmes and benefitting those who might not otherwise be able to fund such education.

Derek Holder did more than educate a generation of marketers in direct and digital marketing. He was a major part of a movement that professionalised our industry. As head of the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing he inspired a generation of clients and agency principals to rigorously analyse what they did. The IDM is his epitaph. But I also remember a lovely, kind man, who was always ready for a good lunch and hours of fascinating debate, chat and gossip.
